Idaho Advances School Choice Further Than Ever Before, but There's More Work to Do
AFC Staff, May 4, 2023: This year, many in the Idaho legislature worked hard to find common ground on issues to make school choice a reality. They even enacted open enrollment, a step in the right direction. Despite their efforts, a private school choice expansion did not reach the governor’s desk this session.
School choice gives parents and families the ability to choose the best education option for their children. The American Federation of Children, an advocacy group for the adoption of robust school choice policies, has been working to pass school choice policies in Idaho. Their spokesperson, Nathan Cunneen, states, "Education is the key to a better future for Idaho children. We need to ensure that all families have access to the best education options, regardless of their income or ZIP code."
To help bring school choice to Idaho, The American Federation of Children has launched a website, SchoolChoiceIdaho.com, where visitors can learn more about school choice and how they can get involved in the effort. The website offers a wealth of resources, including articles, videos, and infographics, all designed to educate visitors about the benefits of school choice and how it can make a difference in the lives of Idaho families.
